Van introduced his two sons to riding early on and, as a family, they raced motocross in the Eastern US for about 12 years.

On to the road in 2007 with a BMW R1150RT. His current bikes are a 2007 BMW R1200RT, a 2007 BMW R1200S, a 2006 BMW R1200GS, THREE 1999 Honda Z50R's, and a 1969 Ossa Pioneer 250. Van is a member of the BMWMOA, the BMWMCOGA (Georgia) and is an inmate on ADVRIDER (Daddyrabbit).
